Navigating You Through the Progressive Underground

HellloooooOOOOOoooOOOoooOoOoOOOoooo reader. Hi. Good day. An utmost splendidly average greeting to you. I want you to feel welcome for another post of The Progressive Subway. Go make yourself comfortable in our annoyingly average subway seats with no extras whatsoever. Drink some water, breathe in exactly the same tempo you always have, blink twice and buckle up like you are preparing yourself to mindlessly read ANOTHER Reddit post. Are you ready? Good. Let’s go, because the Subway is taking off at full speed.

There’s a bunch of things to announce. Notice anything? Yeah that’s right, the reviews are GONE, you have been BAMBOOZLED. Nah just kidding, they’re on the next few pages. We decided that it would be better to use page breaks from now on, having only 4-5 reviews per page instead of 10. That makes it easier for bands to link to reviews of their album and we hope search algorithms will find us easier this way. And last, but not least, it also encourages you to read my bullshit post intros more often!

…but wait why is the post 5 pages? Shouldn’t it be just 3?
You’d be correct assuming that. The last 10 editions have all had around 10 reviews each, but you have been BAMBOOZLED once again as we’ve sped up the pace. There will be only two editions per month from now on. We’re making a big push to catch up with the present. Our aim is to put out the first edition of a month in the first or second week after the month has passed, so it still feels fresh and at least somewhat relevant. Also if we’re caught up we will actually have the time to write other interesting features and stuff. Due to this improved pace we’ll also be accepting guest reviewers on these coming editions.

I was hoping to write some more bullshit now, but due to poor planning and major study deadlines that’ll have to wait for the next edition unfortunately. I promise I’ll let you know all about Dylan’s quest in defeating the outer space gorillas who are planning a planet Earth invasion, but it’ll be next time. Finally here’s a Spotify playlist with all recommended tracks.

New here? Check our About page and take a look at our social media accounts (links in the sidebar). In short what we do is that we search for promising underground prog metal (and related) bands through Metal-Archives advanced search, Bandcamp and other sources, group them together by the month they were released in, and then write a review on them. Do you want your band reviewed? Send us an email at theprogressivesubway@gmail.com. Just make sure it’s from a month we haven’t covered yet and that the release is over 20 minutes long.

Big fan of the blog, but I gotta say, I don’t like the page breaks at all…
